Regional Government already integrated another 402 workers into the Regional Public Administration this year

The Vice-President of the Government announced that the Regional Government has already integrated another 402 workers into the Regional Public Administration or public companies under the regularisation process provided for in the Regional Legislative Decree approved by the Legislative Assembly.

"The process was carried out by the Regional Government in the exact terms defined in the Regional Legislative Decree by the Legislative Assembly, i.e., in full compliance with a proposal unanimously approved by the Regional Legislative Assembly," noted Sérgio Ávila.

The regularisation process covers all Regional Public Administration workers hired on fixed-term contracts and service provision contracts for at least two years, with an interruption period not exceeding 30 days between contracts, as well as all workers enrolled in socio-professional integration programmes who have been working for at least three years, with an interruption period not exceeding 120 days. This measure takes as reference the date of publication of the Regional Budget: January 8, 2020.

According to Sérgio Ávila, the Regional Government intends to further strengthen the stability of the Regional Public Administration, on the one hand, and to ensure the professional and personal stability of workers, on the other hand, addressing permanent needs.

The government official stressed that this initiative fulfils a proposal unanimously approved by the Legislative Assembly, which was developed by the Regional Government in a “swift and appropriate” process that complied with the initial plan.

“The process has contributed to the consolidation of the employability of hundreds of workers, being beneficial for themselves and their families as well as for the regional administration,” emphasised Sérgio Ávila.

The Vice-President stressed that the Regional Government has awarded priority status to the stability of employment and, therefore, the integration of workers demonstrates the concern to reinforce the stability of Regional Public Administration staff.

The Regional Government continues to invest in the qualification of the Regional Public Administration on a permanent basis, ensuring an administration that is increasingly renewed, efficient and closer to Azorean citizens.
