The Health Ombudsman is a link between citizens and the Regional Health Service as well as private entities and health professionals providing health care services within the Regional Health Service.
The Health Ombudsman has no decision-making power. Hence, it cannot take decisions or try a case. The Health Ombudsman can make suggestions or persuade through reason, justifying the positions taken in the defence of health users.
Being a key factor in the well-being of the population, Health Services have two main goals: ensure the access of citizens to health care on equal terms and promote the quality and efficiency of the Health System.
The Health Ombudsman service is an entity that considers patients as the core of health care services and, therefore, its actions should be addressed at the fulfilment of their aspirations by providing the appropriate means for the exercise of the right of participating and defending their rights.
