Government launches international call for tenders for the construction of NONAGON
The Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures has launched an international call for tenders for the construction of the first NONAGON building - São Miguel Science and Technology Park.
This investment corresponds to the second phase of the NONAGON project, after completing infrastructure planning and the construction of foundations and basements of every building that will make up the technology park.
The first of four buildings, whose tender has been launched, will be designated as Azores Science, Technology and Innovation Centre; it is intended for the installation of support services and infrastructures for companies and other entities located in the technology park.
This building will contain a Data centre and a Disaster recovery centre, structures with high safety standards, as well as rooms for management works, maintenance of systems and installation of redundant and backup systems for computing infrastructures of R&D institutions and technology based companies headquartered in the Technology Park.
The first building will also include a conference and exhibition centre specifically designed for meetings, particularly those with scientific and technological purposes; a Communication and Technology Information Centre, with spaces reserved for officials in charge of the maintenance and development of communications networks and infrastructures; a Competitive Intelligence Centre; a Business Innovation Centre, Bic Açores, and a Technology Incubator.
Furthermore, the technology park will integrate three other buildings in the future: Monitoring and Warning Technologies Centre, Training and Technological Development Centre and Information and Communication Technologies Business Centre.
NONAGON - São Miguel Science and Technology Park is targeted at the development of Information and Communication Technologies, monitoring of seismic and volcanic surveillance systems, specialised technological training and business promotion in the area of Science and Technology; these are the priority areas in the construction of the Information and Knowledge Society.
The international public call for tender now launched for the construction of the first NONAGON building has a base price of nine million Euros and a completion period of 14 months.
