The Presidency of the Government, through the Regional Directorate for Culture, makes public the names of the recipients of the Scholarships for Artistic Creation in 2012: José Maria de Aguiar Rodrigues Berquó Cavaco (Plastic Arts), Luís Filipe da Silva Bicudo (Audiovisual and Multimedia), Maria João Dias Jorge Simões (Drama) and Marcelo Tavares Filipe Borges (Photography).
Selected among 17 applications submitted in the four areas in competition, and by determination of four independent selection Commissions composed by figures of recognised merit, the distinguished artists will receive a scholarship in the amount of ten thousand Euros. In the case of the scholarship granted in the Audiovisual and Multimedia category, the amount corresponds to 75% of the budget requested, which can up to a maximum limit of sixty thousand Euros.
The final result of the programme of Scholarships for Artistic Creation 2012, including a complete listing containing the classification of all applicants in each category, has been duly published in the Official Journal, the Portal of the Government and the Azores Culture Portal.
The Rules on Scholarships for Artistic Creation was approved by Ordinance No. 92/2011 of November 24 "with the purpose of encouraging, at a regional level, the development of individual research projects in artistic areas and providing artists living in the Azores with the necessary conditions to develop and create original and quality works. This initiative is also intended to expand the production and dissemination of artistic areas."
