Secretary for Health receives delegation from the Ministry of Internal Administration
The Regional Secretary for Health received in audience a delegation from the Ministry of Internal Administration that is visiting the Region with the aim of implementing the Security and Emergency Digital Network in the archipelago.
According to Luís Cabral, today's meeting was organised to define the protocols on the installation of this network in the archipelago; the network is estimated to enter into operation in the Azores by January 2014.
Designated as SIRESP, this project is intended to install a single security and communications network, which will be used by various national entities, such as the civil protection, military, PSP (Public Safety Police), GNR (Portuguese National Republican Guard) and firefighters, thus allowing them to communicate from any part in the country on the same bandwidth spectrum, with the advantage of being a digital network of higher quality.
According to the Regional Secretary for Health, "the Region has demonstrated its interest in the implementation of this network so that all national services operating in the Region may benefit from its potentialities."
The delegation from the Ministry of Internal Administration visited today the premises of the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service and will meet tomorrow with the Commander of the Azores Operational Command in Ponta Delgada.
