The establishment of Barclays Bank in the Azores acknowledges the potential of the Azorean economy, corresponding to an asset for the regional financial market, stated the Regional Director for the Budget and the Treasury today.
José António Gomes spoke, on behalf of the President of the Government, at the opening ceremony of the office Barclays Bank in Ponta Delgada.
On the occasion, the Regional Director said that the Regional Administration has been ensuring the necessary stability of regional finances over the past years, imposing discipline and the containment of operational costs as well as providing additional funds for the expenses of the public and private investment.
Therefore, the Azorean Government is optimist regarding the evolution of economic activity in coming years, counting upon the active participation of all economic agents, particularly the banking companies and institutions, in a partnership, in order to boost the economic growth of the Azores.
José António Gomes passed on the best wishes to this financial institution which will now be at the service of all Azoreans.
