The President of the Government will travel to Fall River, United States, where he will participate as guest of honour in the Holy Spirit Festivities of New England.
Carlos César and his wife Luísa will attend the ethnographic parade on Saturday and the "Bodo de Leite" at Kennedy Park, an event that has attracted hundreds of thousands of Azorean emigrants from across the USA and Canada to Fall River for over twenty-five years.
On Sunday, the most important day of the Holy Spirit festivities, the President of the Regional Government will attend the solemn mass and the "coronation" to take place at Santana Church. The government official will also participate in the "coronation" procession.
The programme of the Holy Spirit Festivities of New England will close on Monday with a dinner where Carlos César will be the guest of honour. The event will be held at a restaurant in Westport and will be attended by five hundred people, including the Bishop of Fall River, George Colleman, the Archbishop of Braga, Jorge Ferreira da Costa Ortiga, the mayor of Fall River, William Flanagan, political personalities and representatives of two dozen social, cultural and recreational institutions in the Azorean communities.
In addition to participating in the Holy Spirit festivities, the President of the Regional Government will attend the dinner organised by the House of the Azores of New England on Friday night, an event that will be attended by 200 people.
The return of Carlos César is scheduled for Wednesday morning. During his absence, the Vice-President of the Government, Sérgio Ávila, will assume the duties of President of the Government.
