The President of the Government expressed the Regional Government's recognition to those who, over the past 50 years, have contributed to the projection of SATA Rallye Azores, being nowadays one of the "major events for the promotion of the Region."
"Today would not have the SATA Rallye Azores, if we did not have 1965 those who have ventured in this initiative and built with dedication, over the past 50 years, one of the greatest motor sport competitions at a national and European level, which is also one the major events for the promotion of our Region," said Vasco Cordeiro.
Speaking Friday at the dinner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of SATA Rallye Azores, the President of the Government stressed that the Regional Government welcomes all those who visit the Region, highlighting "the importance of this event as one of the important tools in the dissemination of our landscapes and natural beauties."
On the occasion, Vasco Cordeiro congratulated the Grupo Desportivo Comercial for the initiative to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Tour around the Island of São Miguel, honouring several personalities and institutions that have contributed to the success of this event.
As part of the FIA Rally Championship Europe, promoted by Eurosport Events, this event has promoted the Azores in several countries, with an estimated financial return that is nearly ten times more than the allocated amount.
