The Interactive and Recreational Mathematical Association –AMIL will organise the 2nd Math Games Championship on January 21. The Regional Government joins this project through the Regional Directorates for Youth and Education and Training.
Being held at the “Pavilhão do Mar” in Ponta Delgada, the event counts upon the participation of math students and teachers from public and private Basic Education and Secondary schools as well as from vocational training schools of the Region.
The Regional Math Games Championship, likewise the National Math Games to take place in Lisbon in March 2011, which will be attended by Azorean youngsters, comprises four categories, corresponding to the three Basic Education levels and the Secondary level.
The recreational dimension of this activity is an educational asset for the teaching of mathematics as games are another strategy of developing mathematical skills. Based on this assumption, the Government Azores has once more reinforced its commitment to provide Azorean youngsters with an opportunity of developing an active social participation as well as their skills through non-formal educational activities.
