Creating new opportunities for Azorean youngsters is one of the Government’s priorities, reiterated the Regional Director for Youth in Angra do Heroísmo on Monday.
“More than a theory, this commitment should become a reality,” Bruno Pacheco stated, alluding to several programmes that have already been launched to accomplish this goal. In fact, the present economic context should also encourage entrepreneurship and the creation of opportunities.
The Regional Director spoke at the ceremony to celebrate the 34th anniversary of the Angra do Heroísmo Nursing School and emphasised a new initiative, the Conference Cycle of DRJ (Regional Directorate for Youth). The first conference was held at this same session under the theme Risk and Resilience in Adolescence and it was delivered by Celeste Simões.
The establishment of Youth Assistance Offices, whose first unit is being installed at the Terceira Youth Academy, is another initiative to support “Azorean youngsters in the development of their life projects.”
These offices, he explained, include different support dimensions, such as “the support to youngsters in the construction of their life projects.”
Bruno Pacheco underlined that the success of these support tools largely relies on partnerships established between the Regional Government and other institutional and private entities. In this context, several protocols will be signed in different areas of educational, social and economic activities.
The first of these documents were signed on Monday with the Angra do Heroísmo Nursing School, the Valorizar Network, UMAR (Women’s Union – Alternative and Response) and with the municipal company Praia em Movimento.
