Regional Director for Youth highlights importance of support to regional production
The Regional Director for Youth, Pilar Damião, said today in Ponta Delgada that the Azorean Government has strongly supported cultural and creative industries and regional production.
"Regional production is a reflection of our heritage," said Pilar Damião. The government official pointed out the "LabJovem" project and the "Põe-te em Cena" programme as "examples of the efforts carried out by the Azorean Government to boost the quality and originality of the works produced by Azorean youngsters and disseminate their value to other audiences."
Speaking at the presentation of an event titled as "Tremor," the Regional Director considered that the initiative developed by the Silêncio Sonoro Cultural Association is an "artistic revolution" insofar as it will revitalise public spaces and provide a significant contribution to Azorean cultural routes.
"This project will act as a leverage that will bring life to Ponta Delgada's historic centre and promote animation as factor to attract youngsters of all ages to the city's historic centre," said the government official.
"Tremor," which will be held on April 12, is intended to be a music celebration that will invade for one day the Historic Centre of Ponta Delgada.
This initiative aims to disseminate the best that Ponta Delgada has to offer as an urban space and provide it with a unique experience that will fill the city with people and music animation.
The festival will take place from 12 to 2 PM in several venues throughout the city, from alternative and institutional spaces, commercial areas, bars and galleries.
