Government ensures best response in air cargo transport to all islands, says Isabel Rodrigues
The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs assured today that the Government of the Azores "has been working in order to provide all islands, without exception, with the best response and improved accessibility" for passengers and air cargo.
Speaking at the plenary session of the Regional Assembly, Isabel Rodrigues restated that "the new public service obligations for inter-island transport were designed to provide a response to all islands in terms of cargo and passenger transport."
"With regard to national public service obligations, namely the links to Mainland Portugal," Isabel Rodrigues added that "there is an ongoing public tender for the provision of regular air cargo transport services, which will certainly bring major advantages to the marketing of regional products, especially of first-sale fish."
Whereas a substantial part of air cargo transported in the Region consists of fish and in the face of fluctuations in demand, the Government of the Azores has jointly worked with SATA to provide the best possible response to market conditions.
