The Regional Director for Communities stressed in Angra do Heroísmo the importance the Regional Government attaches to the preservation and dissemination of the cult of the Holy Spirit and, for that reason, "is very happy to be a partner" in the International Congress of the Holy Spirit to be held next year in Mainland Portugal.
Paulo Teves spoke at the presentation of the International Congress of the Holy Spirit in the municipality of Alenquer, pointing out that the Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Communities, will take part in its organisation "by supporting the travel expenses of several lecturers from the Diaspora."
In his speech, Paulo Teves recalled the creation of the Holy Spirit Festivities Route - Azores/Communities, available at the address www.roteirodesazores.com. It features more than two hundred Holy Spirit festival and provides information on their geographical location, dates and historical notes, among other data.
The ceremony, held at Angra do Heroísmo City Hall, also included the public presentation of the Infante Dom Henrique Chair for Atlantic Island Studies and Globalisation; its partners are the Azores Cultural Institute, Universidade Aberta (Open University), Agency for the Promotion of Atlantic Culture and the Centre for Overseas History.
