The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Communities, and in collaboration with Criaçores - São Miguel Artisans' Association, promotes a training course for immigrants living in the Azores that will start today.
This 20-day training course is intended to boost the professional skills of unemployed immigrants with the acquisition of crafts skills.
Hence, the main goal of this initiative is to provide immigrants with the opportunity of practising a craft, which will contribute to their integration in society and promote their autonomy in the labour world.
Furthermore, it is also intended to promote interculturalism by disseminating and stimulating the knowledge on the cultural heritage of various nationalities living in the Region.
In addition to including a practical component, which includes visits to artisans' workshops and museums, the training course also includes a theoretical component with the provision of historical and technological information on the specific materials for each area as well as on hygiene and safety rules.
