The Government of the Azores promotes the organisation of the 1st Regional Meeting of European Clubs in Angra do Heroísmo next Saturday, October 26.
The event brings together about twenty teachers in charge of the European Clubs of Basic Education, Secondary and Vocational Training Schools across the Region. This initiative is intended to provide a moment of reflection on the activities developed by these school spaces and their role in dissemination of knowledge on the European Union.
The 1st Regional Meeting also aims to enhance the exchange of experiences and good practices among participants, raising the awareness of Azorean teachers and schools for the importance of creating European Clubs.
The promotion of the European spirit of citizenship among youngsters is another goal of this meeting.
The programme of the event, promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Culture and the Cabinet of the Under Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations, includes work sessions on the operation and funding opportunities of the National Network. These sessions will be conducted by the Directorate-General of Education.
This initiative also includes a practical workshop promoted by the Jacques Delors European Information Centre as well as the preparation and presentation of the respective conclusions.
The opening session of the First Regional Meeting of European Clubs takes place at the main hall of the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Culture in Angra do Heroísmo on Saturday at 9:30 AM. It will be attended by the Regional Under Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations, Rodrigo Oliveira, and the Director-General of Education, Fernando Reis.
