New premises of Corvo Island Natural Park to reinforce working conditions of workers
The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism assured today that the new premises of Corvo Environmental Service and Natural Park will "reinforce the operating conditions of this service" by creating a specific area for this purpose with technical offices, meeting rooms and workshops.
The new building will be built on a plot of land of about 450 m2, which is in the process of being acquired. It will have a covered area of nearly 160 m2 and will stand out for its simplicity and modernity that fits perfectly into the architectural complex of Vila do Corvo.
"This 200 thousand-Euro investment will free the entire space of the Environmental Centre for the installation of Corvo Wild Birds Interpretation Centre," said Marta Guerreiro. She spoke at the presentation of the project for the new premises in the context the Government's statutory visit.
The government official also stated that the contents of Corvo Wild Birds Interpretation Centre will be assembled simultaneously with the relocation of Corvo Environmental Service. This interpretation centre will occupy the entire area of the current Environmental Centre; its functional programme is already completed.
In 2017, the Corvo Environmental Centre received 1,046 visitors, representing an increase of 32% compared to 2016. As of August, this year, it has surpassed the figures registered in 2017, with 1,096 visitors, 42% more in comparison with the same period of last year.
