The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Graciosa Museum, promotes several cultural dissemination initiatives in the last quarter of 2013, most of which will be held at the Museum premises.

During the month of October, the exhibition titled "Filarmónica Recreio dos Artistas – um século de história” (Recreio dos Artistas Philharmonic Band - a century of history) will be open to the public and a vertical piano will be featured as the "Piece of the Month." The opening of the second semester collection, organised under the theme "Luminária" (Lights), will take place next Tuesday, October 1. On the same day, the date on which the World Music Day is annually celebrated, an educational concern will be performed by the Recreio dos Artistas Philharmonic Band at 8 PM.

In addition, several lectures are scheduled for October 4, 5 and 6 as well as a guided tour and a cultural route around the island of Graciosa. These activities are addressed at the Choir of the National Assembly that will participate in the choir festival hosted by Graciosa - "Ilha Graciosa ... em Canto." The festival will be held at the Cultural Centre on Saturday, October 5, at 9 PM and will also feature the participation of the Choir of Matriz de Santa Cruz da Graciosa Church.

On October 19, Sunday, the theatre play "É urgente o amor" (Love is urgent) will be staged at the Cultural Centre at 9 PM by the Mortágua Experimental Theatre Group from Viseu in partnership with "A Semente" Theatre Group.

On October 24, participants at the 5th Biennial of Underwater Tourism will have the opportunity of taking part in a commented visit to the Museum, followed by a lecture delivered by its Director under the theme "Ilha Graciosa – Caracterização histórica, económica e sociocultural" (Graciosa Island - Historical, economic and socio-cultural characteristics). On October 27, the same group will have the possibility of participating in the Cultural Route "A descoberta da Ilha Graciosa” (The discovery of Graciosa Island), which will be guided by the Director of Graciosa Museum.

During the month of November, a cannon will be in display as the selected piece of the month. The Graciosa Cultural Centre will host a show organised by "A Semente" Theatre Group on November 5 at 9 PM. The initiative “Viver o Património: Diálogos e Filmes” (Living Heritage: Dialogues and Movies) will be held between November 20 and 22. The event will be marked by the exhibition of the documentary Traços da Vida Rural Graciosense. Sementeiras, colheita e vindimas” (Rural Life on Graciosa. Sowing, harvesting and grape harvesting) and the organisation of activities by the Museum Educational Services at the S. Mateus and Santo Cristo Elderly Homes.

In December, the "Piece of the month" will be a nativity scene. During this month, the bibliographic exhibition “Natália Correia, uma mulher intemporal” (Natália Correia, a timeless woman" and the exhibition “Memórias da Graciosa – Freguesia de São Mateus” (Memories of Graciosa - Village of São Mateus) may be visited from December 1 to 31. On December 6, the Museum will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its public opening. The last activity scheduled for December will be the traditional Christmas concert to be held at the Cultural Centre on December 15 at 9 PM.
