A painting and photography exhibition titled "ailleurs" by plastic artist Helena Lousinha will open to the public at Manuel de Arriaga House next Tuesday, October 9.
Helena Lousinha displays 15 works, photographs and oil on canvas, which are described by Rui A. Pereira in the catalogue accompanying the exhibition:
"The author shapes the visible reality of an illusory world that has abolished the human dimension. Behind the wall she stresses isolation in our universe; the crossing remains a whole waived: faces abandoned without voice, without ever expressing the scourge hidden before our eyes - the darkness in a world where nobody can see and seems to be alienated from what truly matters. Indeed, the creative force of this work lies in men and everything in everlasting life that surrounds them."
Helena Lousinha, a national citizen, was born in Casablanca (Morocco) in 1952. She has lived and worked in Alentejo since 1986. She pursued her artistic training at National Society of Fine Arts of Lisbon and studied painting at ARCO (Art and Communication Centre).
She displayed her works for the first time in 1983. Helena Lousinha has held individual exhibitions and participated in various collective exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. Her works make up several official and private collections and they are referenced in the Art anthologies: "Arte no Feminimo" by Afonso Almeida Brandão, Produções Anifa Tajú (2007) and "80 Artistas em Portugal" by Margarida Botelho, Edições Heptágono (1991).
The exhibition, which will remain open until November 16, may be visited in the following timetable: Tuesday to Friday from 10 AM to 12 PM - 2 PM to 5:30 PM; Saturdays and Sunday from 2 PM to 5:30 PM. Closed on Mondays and public holidays.
