The Azores will be represented at the National School Sports Festival 2010, held in Torres Vedras on Friday.
This is an initiative of the Directorate-General for Innovation and Curriculum Development of the Ministry of Education that aims to distinguish the different participants in school sports activities.
The winners will be distinguished in the following categories: Student, Teacher, School and Municipality.
In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the participants were selected by the Regional Directorate for Sport.
Hence, Tiago Ferreira Macedo, student at the Tomás de Borba Basic Education and Secondary School, was selected in the student category among those who achieved the best results in national school sports competitions.
José Guilherme Calado, teacher at the Roberto Ivens Basic Education School, was distinguished for his commitment in the organisation and participation in various school sports activities.
The Manuel de Arriaga School on Faial was considered as the school establishment that stood out the most in the organisation of school sports activities, whether for its achievements, whether for its participation and organisation.
In the municipality category, the Horta City Hall was distinguished for its commitment in the support of school sports activities in different aspects of their organisation.
The National School Sports Festival will take place at the Artur Gonçalves Basic Education and Secondary School in Torres Vedras. The event will be attended by the Minister of Education.
