According to the commitment made by the Government in the recent revision of the Teaching Application Rules, the deadline for submission of applications to the internal and external teaching application in the Region for the 2017/2018 school year runs from May 22 to June 2.
The Regional Government's commitment, embodied in the Regional Legislative Decree no.2/2017/A, reinstates the annual frequency of applications and repeals the compulsory requirement to teach for three years at the same school. Furthermore, it stipulates new rules for the calculation of the professional classification of applicants, which are fairer in view of the current housing acquisition scheme for teachers.
As already mentioned by the Regional Secretary for Education and Culture, this application will fill 91 vacancies corresponding to the permanent needs of the regional public education system. It is in line with the priorities established under the ProSucesso programme, namely in the educational support to Elementary School level and Special Education as well as in the teaching of Portuguese and Mathematics at all levels of education. Moreover, the application takes into consideration the vacancies filled by teachers who have hired on fixed-term contracts for three or more consecutive school years.
The vacancies to be provided under this application by school and recruitment group are listed in the respective opening notice, published today at the Azores Public Employment Exchange.
However, the Government foresees some situations of non-recovery, particularly in cases where the number of vacancies provided exceed the actual needs of schools.
Applications are made through the electronic form available at http://concursopessoaldocente.azores.gov.pt address or at the portal of the Regional Government of the Azores (www.azores.gov.pt) and the Education portal (www.edu.azores.gov.pt).
For this purpose, applicants should use the information provided in previous application procedures carried out by the Regional Directorate for Education, including the email address and password.
Teachers applying for the first time that do not have access information must register as new users.
The application validation statement and the respective documents should be also submitted via the electronic form access. For that purpose, applicants will have two working days after the deadline for submission of applications.
Internal and external applications are held simultaneously in all its phases; the placement of teachers in scheduled for the beginning of the second week of August.
The internal application is open to all teachers attached to the regional school staff as well as to teachers attached the national teaching staff, regardless of their designation, who wish to be integrated into the teaching staff of another school under the same recruitment group or wish to change their recruitment group, provided that they hold suitable professional qualifications.
The external application is open to individuals who hold professional qualifications for the practice of teaching in the groups of recruitment where they are applying for, with or without pre-established labour relations with other entity, under the terms of the legislation in force.
Teachers placed under these applications will be integrated into the teaching staff of the school establishment where they were placed by a public employment contract of indefinite duration, with effect on September 1, 2017.
