Azorean Government invests more than 300 thousand Euros in activities developed by the Regional Scientific and Technological System
The Azorean Government, through the Regional Directorate for Science and Technology, launched this week six tenders, amounting to 340 thousand Euros, for specialised scientific training and dissemination as well as for the promotion of scientific and technological culture.
The Regional Director for Science and Technology pointed out that these tenders "reinforce the commitment to the development of projects by the entities of the Azores Science and Technological System." In fact, they ensure "a continuity in the funding" of activities, such as the participation in scientific meetings, the organisation of and participation in scientific dissemination activities or the publication of scientific works."
Bruno Pacheco also stressed that the Azorean Government "now extends the funding to new initiatives," namely the holding of science fairs and the development of activities in the field of experimental science education. This measure represents "a further step in the implementation of the Action Plan for the Scientific and Technological Culture of the Azores (PACCTO)," with special emphasis on the Science at School programme.
Regarding the six tenders now launched, the Regional Director highlighted the "new support measures," which are particularly directed to the participation of teachers in scientific dissemination events and the widespread participation of researchers in scientific meetings. Moreover, he mentioned the fact that, besides the areas of programming and robotics, the support now covers the areas of natural sciences in the context of experimental science teaching activities.
With the exception of the tender for the support of activities to be developed in the area of experimental science teaching, which ends on March 1, the remaining tenders will be open until June 28.
