Government of the Azores extends permits to catch marine species for another three months
The Government of the Azores has decided to extend the permits and authorisations issued in 2017 for the catch of octopus, barnacles, seaweed, conch, urchins and clams.
An ordinance published Thursday in the Official Journal determines that permits issued during the past year are automatically renewed until May 31.
The decision is taken because the legal scheme on the catch of marine species in the Azores is in the process of being amended and that the processes related to the licensing of these activities in 2018 is yet to be concluded.
An ordinance published on December 28, 2017 had already determined the extension of permits until March 31.
Normally, the permits issued for the catch of marine species are only valid for the year of issuance.
The legal document now published enters into effect Friday, March 30.
