The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Fisheries, has called the Administration Board of FUNDOPEDSCA for a meeting to be held on January 8, following the bad weather conditions that have hit the Region over the last weeks.
The meeting will take place in the city of Horta and is intended to analyse the evolution of the unloads of fish in regional markets during the month of December in order to decide on the payment of the salary compensation to the fishers covered by this fund.
The Administration Board of FUNDOPESCA is an advisory body made up of representatives of fishers, shipowners, Lotaçor and the Regional Secretariats for Social Solidarity and the Sea, Science and Technology.
The Azores Fishers' Salary Compensation Fund - FUNDOPESCA was created in 2002 with the aim of providing salary compensation to Azorean fishers when they are prevented from working due to bad weather conditions.
The Administration Board is responsible for the definition of the criteria to be followed in the activation of this fund.
