The Regional Secretary of the Presidency, André Bradford, will hold a round of meetings with private sector media companies in the Azores in coming days with the purpose of carrying out a mid-term assessment regarding the operation of the Regional Programme to Support Private Media, PROMEDIA, the effectiveness of the available support lines, their use by companies and the need to make some adjustments to improve their implementation in accordance with the evolution of the programme.
In view of the news made public concerning the dismissal of workers from media companies, the government official in charge of administering the media policy in the Azorean Government also intends to address the situation of the private sector, its challenges and difficulties as well as the impact of the crisis on the advertising market during the round of meetings.
Moreover, the Azorean Government is studying a set of special measures to present at these meetings, which will be agreed with the representatives of media companies in order to provide a response to the possible difficulties the sector is facing due to the crisis.
