The implementation of Imaging Information System has already been awarded by Saudaçor and is expected to be operational in early 2018. It will be implemented in regional hospitals and health centres and in the Azores Oncology Centre.
This investment of nearly 1.2 million Euros comprises a centralise solution as well as the sharing of information related to radiology tests carried out in hospitals and island health units.
The new model is also prepared to integrate other data, namely information on Cardiology, Anatomopathology and Gastroenterology.
This system is linked to a web platform in which health professionals may have access to clinical information on patients and carry out telediagnosis from any health unit of the archipelago.
The Imaging Information System will enhance available resources, with advantages in reducing the waiting times for patients and in increasing the productivity of professionals.
The centralisation of clinical information, on the other hand, streamlines the access of patients to services, provides indispensable indicators in the analysis of test results and improves the operation of health services.
The public tender for the implementation of this system was awarded to Art Ces, national representation of the company SECTRA, whose investment will be assured by Community funds as well as by funds from the Regional Investment Plan.
