The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorates for Communities and Solidarity and Social Solidarity, promote the International Conference of Social Service Organisations under the theme Migration and Inclusive Practices at the VIP Hotel in Ponta Delgada on December 5 and 6.
The event will count upon the participation of relevant social organisations in the Azorean communities residing in the United States, Canada and Bermuda, as well as of regional institutions playing an important role in various social areas; it was organised with the purpose of providing the representatives of the participating organisations with a space for knowledge, reflection and analysis of good network practices in the respective communities on both sides of the Atlantic.
This initiative, which is integrated in the celebration programme of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, will address themes related to social policies to combat poverty and social exclusion, immigration, education and training, health and welfare, and family dynamics.
In this context, the International Conference of Social Service Organisations aims to contribute to an in-depth reflection on the social issues that most affect the emigrant Azorean communities, returned emigrants and immigrants, enabling the development of integrated responses and thereby contribute to a better social integration of citizens.
