The Azores and the Canadian province of Quebec renewed the cooperation protocol signed in November 2011 for professional traineeships targeted at youngsters residing in both territories who have completed their academic training. It will remain in force for another three years.
The agreement, signed between the Azores and the Office Quebec-Monde pour la Jeunesse, provides young people aged between 18 and 35 with the opportunity to have a professional experience in one of the regions for a period of three months. This traineeship aims to promote the acquisition of working habits, an essential tool in the preparation of youngsters for the labour market.
Furthermore, the new protocol allows the support to companies through the participation of youngsters in actions that foster entrepreneurship and promote business culture.
The exchange of cultural experiences and the acquisition of language skills are also relevant aspects in the implementation of this protocol, which has enabled the Azores and Quebec to exchange information on vocational training. Indeed, this a key tool in the fight against the unemployment and social exclusion.
