Regional Government supports participation of Azorean companies in the Alimentaria&Horexpo fair in Lisbon
The Government of the Azores, through the Vice-Presidency, supports the participation of 25 Azorean companies in the 13th International Food Hall, Hospitality and Food- Industry Technology - Alimentaria&Horexpo.
The event will take place at the Lisbon International Fair (FIL) on November 22-24. It is considered the leader of the national sector and as a reference at European level, being also an important international meeting of the food industry.
The Vice-President of the Government, Sérgio Ávila, emphasised the "crucial" participation of 25 Azorean companies in the food and beverage sector, which provides them "an opportunity to promote their products, test the launch of new products, sign contacts with industry professionals and leverage new export markets for our products."
This year's edition of Alimentaria & Horexpo aims to reach more than 200 million potential consumers, through a strategic positioning as a business platform between Europe, Africa and South America by involving all the Portuguese market and establishing itself as a natural bridge for the trade food industry with countries of Portuguese influence, such as Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
"The Government of the Azores believes that our capacity to increase the export of goods and services produced from the Region's endogenous resources is a critical factor of success in the development of our economic activity," said Sérgio Ávila.
"Economic growth will have to increasingly rely on our ability to produce and transform our raw materials, creating the conditions for their export and, thus, promote the creation of jobs and the sustained growth of our economic activity," added the Vice-President.
The participation of the Azores in Alimentaria & Horexpo falls within the Annual Plan for Trade Fairs and Business Missions 2015, an initiative developed by the Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government with the aim of promoting regional exports in the agri-food sector.
