This Environmental Interpretation Center was developed with the Priolo as its focal point. The Priolo, or Azores Bullfinch, is an endemic bird found in the eastern part of the island of São Miguel. The Center displays a permanent interactive exhibition on this bird, its habitat and the Laurel forest. The center also focuses on preservation actions that have been undertaken by the LIFE Priolo Project for the conservation of the species and its habitat. This center is open to the public and can be visited throughout the year.
