The Regional Health Authority reports that tour positive cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed on the island of São Miguel, following 457 tests conducted by the two laboratories of reference in the Azores in the last 24 hours.

The cases diagnosed on São Miguel Island correspond to females, aged between 85 and 97, and a 92-year-old male, all residents at the Nursing Home of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Nordeste. 

The Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada reports the death of a 93-year-old patient; condolences have been offered to the bereaved family. 

Regarding active positive cases, there are three new cases of recovery from infection with SARS-CoV-2, namely two females, aged between 77 and 88, from the island of São Miguel, a 51-year-old male from the island of Terceira. 

Pandemic prevention and containment measures should be maintained and reinforced, whenever possible, by citizens, private and social organisations, and by the social sector.
 
As of now, 142 positive cases for infection with the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19 disease, have been identified in the Region, with 48 recovered cases, 14 deaths and 80 active cases: 61 on São Miguel Island, two on Terceira Island, five on Graciosa Island, two on São Jorge Island, five on Pico Island and five on Faial Island. 

The information on the COVID-19 pandemic will be updated this afternoon at 4 pm, through a press conference to be held at the headquarters of the Regional Health Secretariat at Solar dos Remédios in Angra do Heroísmo. 

The Regional Health Authority reiterates the need to comply with all recommendations already made public in this regard, especially that, in case of symptoms, patients should not seek a Hospital or Health Unit, but rather call the Azores Health Line - 808 24 60 24.
