The Regional Health Authority reports that two positive cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed on the island of São Miguel, following 523 tests conducted by the two laboratories of reference in the Azores in the last 24 hours.
The diagnosed cases correspond to two males, aged 18 and 31, who have recently arrived in the Region via a flight from Mainland Portugal
One is a resident in the Azores and the other, who lives in Mainland Portugal, has a second home in the Region.
Both individuals are clinically stable and in home confinement.
The cases are being followed up by the Municipal Health Authority. The procedures defined for confirmed case are in progress as well as the surveillance of close contacts.
So far, 150 cases of infection with the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19 disease, have been detected in the Region, with three active cases: two on São Miguel Island and one on Terceira Island.
Pandemic prevention and containment measures should be maintained and reinforced, whenever possible, by citizens, private and social organisations, and by the social sector.
The Regional Health Authority reiterates the need to comply with all recommendations already made public in this regard, especially that, in case of symptoms, patients should not seek a Hospital or Health Unit, but rather call the Azores Health Line - 808 24 60 24.
