The Government of the Azores, through the Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive, will organise a Genealogy Workshop on July 19. The event will specifically address the research on documentary sources and will be guided by archivists at the Ponta Delgada Library.
This will be the first of a series of workshops dedicated to Genealogy to be held in 2014 and 2015. There will be initiatives specifically targeted at adults and youngsters.
The first workshop will focus on the exploration and acquisition of knowledge on documentary and information sources in paper and digital formats for the support to genealogical research and development of studies on Genealogy.
The initiative aims to draw special attention to this area of knowledge/research as well as to, particularly in this first approach, disseminate the archives available at the Library that are related to this area, and enhance the practical and effective knowledge on these documentary sources among the community in general.
With free-admission sessions, the Genealogy Workshop requires a minimum of five participants and a maximum of 15. It will be held from 2 to 4:30 PM. Registration is required at the address [email protected].
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of the CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
