The Regional Directorate of Culture, through the Sacred Art Centre of the Carlos Machado Museum in Ponta Delgada, will open the exhibition “Brincos de Princesa: neither the beginning nor the end” by Azorean artist Sofia de Medeiros on December 10 at 6:30 PM.
In this exhibition, the artist offers the public a contemporary vision of the cultural traditions of the Azores with the presentation of over a dozen original works, being this exhibition the first of a trilogy dedicated to women in an island dimension.
The exhibition will be open to the public until March 20, 2011 and may be visited from Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 12:30 PM and from 2 PM to 5:30 PM, and on weekends from to 2 PM to 5:30 PM.
Born in Ponta Delgada in 1975, Sofia de Medeiros holds a degree in sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. She has organised individual exhibitions since 1996.
