Graciosa Museum, which is classified as an island museum, is a fixed cultural institution serving society. Its mission is to promote collection and preservation, research, exhibition, dissemination of an image and publication. It further establishes its connection with the community through the implementation of educational and cultural activities.

The Graciosa Ethnographical Centre was founded in the post revolution era, through Decree-Law no. 27/77/A, of 17 July. It later altered its name to Graciosa Museum.
