“For the Sign of the Holy Spirit” is the title of the exhibition of photography of José Guedes da Silva that the Museum of the Industry of Whales inaugurates on Friday, in São Roque do Pico.
The display, which will be shown to the public up to the 1st of June, integrates 26 documentary photos on the popular worship of the Holy Spirit, carried out in the Terceira Island in 1995 and 1996.
In its entire version, the exhibition is composed of 100 photographies to black and white, but to make easy the realization of itinerancies, through the Structure of Mission and Archive of Image of the Azores, there were created shorter versions, as it is this one’s case.
José Guedes da Silva began his photographer's career in Lisbon, in 1975, having published works in several national and foreign newspapers, catalogs, magazines and books.
Besides teaching photography in professional courses and actions of formation, he already exposed in the Azores, Lisbon, Canada and the United States and participated in several individual and collective exhibitions.
The Photography and X-ray of the Works of Art has been the base of his activity, being the person in charge for the Laboratory of Photography and X-ray of the Regional Directorate of Culture.
