Biography
João Manuel Trindade Reis dos Santos

Born on: 

He was born in Lisbon in 1961 and graduated in History at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon in 1988.

He holds a Postgraduate degree in Heritage, Museology and Development from the University of the Azores.

He participated in the Seminars: “Ethnological Heritage integrated in Azorean Museums”; “Preventive Conservation in Museums, Libraries and Archives”; “Transnational Mobility and Regional development"; “Tourism and Development of Santa Maria”; “Educational Service in Museums - Experiences and New Projects.” He attended the following training initiatives: “Methodologies and Application of the Educational Services in Museums”; “Packaging and Transport of Museum Pieces”; “Programming and Production of Exhibitions”; “Production of Cultural Events in Libraries, Archives, Museums and Houses of Culture.”

He also took part in the following Meetings: "Reflections of Aveiro" and the 12th National Meeting of Museology and Municipalities.

Currently, he is a member of the Santa Maria Museum's staff as Senior Technician.  From 1996 to 1999 and from 2001 to the present date, he was appointed Director of this Institution.

He is the author of three articles on Santa Maria Island that are featured in the work "Lugares de Portugal a Visitar" (Places to Visit in Portugal) published by the Reader's Digest Selections.
