Following the statement released by Quercus on Friday, the Regional Government clarifies the following:

1 - The construction project concerning the Energy Recovery Centre (CVE) has already been resized compared to the preliminary study. Therefore, it is not true that the Government of the Azores "will force" the Association of Municipalities of São Miguel (AMISM) to resize it;

2 - The CVE has a maximum incineration capacity of 100 tonnes and it is expected to incinerate an average of 88 thousand tonnes/year and not the 138 tonnes that had been previously estimated in the preliminary study;

3 - Thus, the CVE has the conditions to ensure the compliance with the recycling goals set by the Environmental Impact Statement (50%);

4 - The technological solutions adopted for recycling purposes are the sole responsibility of AMISM under the legal framework in force.
