The President of the Government of the Azores, Carlos César, will preside over the celebrations of Europe Day at the auditorium of Vila Franca do Campo Basic Education and Secondary School next Wednesday at 11 AM. Being organised by the Regional Development, this initiative involves the participation youngsters from all islands.
The final phase of the "Europe" is also scheduled for Wednesday morning. This initiative involves the participation of nine teams that have presented the best multimedia works under the theme "Outermost Regions: the projection of Europe in the world." Each team consists of three senior high school students and three junior high school students in the case of Corvo. The winning team will be awarded a trip to Brussels, including a visit to EU institutions.
With the organisation of various initiatives to celebrate the Europe Day, the Regional Government intends to promote the interest and participation of regional students in activities and themes related to the European Union. In the year when the Region presides over the Conference of ORs, Azorean youngsters are encouraged to reflect on Outermost Regions.
