Flights to Flores to offer seven thousand more seats in the high season, announces Vasco Cordeiro
The President of the Government announced Tuesday the increase of seven thousand seats in flight connections to Flores during the next high season, making up a total of 76,000 seats available to this island during the IATA summer.
"In the 2019 high season, there will be an increase of seven thousand seats for the island of Flores in the Ponta Delgada-Flores-Ponta Delgada routes as well as in the Terceira-Flores-Terceira routes. This measure will reinforce the air transport capacity with the provision of more than 76 thousand seats," said Vasco Cordeiro.
The President of the Government spoke after the meeting of the Azorean Government with the Island Council at the beginning of the statutory visit to Flores, which will take place until Thursday.
Speaking to journalists, Vasco Cordeiro pointed out that several works currently under way on Flores were also analysed at this meeting, namely the 10 million-Euro investment in Poças Port, ensuring that the decision to move forward with the second phase once this first intervention is completed has already been taken.
The installation of a station operated by the Atlantic Network of Geodynamic and Space Stations (RAEGE) on the island of Flores was another matter under analysis at the meeting with the Island Council. Currently, the process is at the stage of land acquisition and technical planning.
This process stems from a direct partnership between the Government of the Azores and the Government of Spain for the installation of the first geodetic station on the island of Santa Maria.
"This was a useful meeting and I am sure that it will be beneficial for the Government's daily actions as well as for the challenges and needs of Flores Island to which we are responding appropriately, said Vasco Cordeiro.
