Government awards Azorean honorary commendations

In a joint organisation of the Legislative Assembly and the Regional Government, 40 honorary commendations were bestowed to Azorean personalities and institutions during a solemn session to celebrate the Day of the Autonomous Region of the Azores that was held in Praia da Vitória on Monday.

According to its statutes, approved in 2002, the Azorean commendations “aim to honour, either in lifetime or posthumously, the citizens and legal persons that have distinguished themselves by personal or institutional actions, civic deeds or by services rendered to the Region.”

The list of commendations awarded this year is the following:
