The Regional Government announced today the creation of the Francisco Ferreira Drummond Basic Education School on the island of Terceira in accordance to the provisions of the Azores School Chart.
This new school unit comprises the new Basic Education School and Kindergarten as well as the elementary schools and kindergartens in the village of São Sebastião, Feteira and Porto Judeu, mentioned the Regional Secretary for the Presidency when he presented the press release of the meeting of the Council of the Government held yesterday on Flores.
With this initiative, the Government intends “to create the necessary conditions so that school-aged children from the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo may have access to quality education in their community.”
At this meeting, it was also decided to integrate the Horta Regional Conservatory into the Horta Basic Education School, as it happened with the Angra do Heroísmo Regional Conservatory, which is integrated into the Tomás de Borba Basic Education and Secondary School.
According to the press release, the integration of the Ponta Delgada Regional Conservatory “will only take place when the Natália Correia Basic Education School will be built, which will not happen in the current legislative period.”
In the context of restructuring process of the School Network, the Council of the Government has decided to include the Ribeira das Taínhas School, which was integrated in the Ponta Garça Basic Education School, in the Vila Franco do Campo Basic Education and Secondary School, with the transfer of students.
