Government identifies interventions deemed necessary following damages caused by bad weather
The President and members of the Azorean Government have met in Ponta Delgada to assess the damages caused by the bad weather that hit the Azores over the last days.
According to what Carlos César told journalists on the sidelines of the ceremony to sign contracts for employment enhancement programmes, the meeting was also held with the purpose "assessing the current situation in terms of damage and the interventions to be carried out immediately and urgently."
Some of these interventions will be carried out in the area of housing, with the rehousing of some families and the replacement of the contents of some houses, mentioned Carlos César. The Government will also carry out other interventions in the area of agriculture "with the support to the farmers whose crops were damaged by the bad weather, particularly fodder," as well as with repair works in some agricultural roads.
In the road sector, the President of the Government revealed that the repairs works of some road sections that are blocking the access to several villages will be done immediately."
The overall assessment of the damages caused by bad weather are estimated between 2.5 and 4 million Euros, mentioned Carlos César.
