The President of the Government ensured today that the Regional Government is committed to ensuring the conditions for Grupo SATA to continue providing a quality service to the Azorean population under the new framework of Public Service Obligations for Air Transport that was agreed with the National Government.
"What the Regional Government defended and agreed with regard to the new model on Public Service Obligations for Air Transport took into consideration the Azores and the Azorean population. After safeguarding the interests of the Azores, the Government will support SATA in order to create the best possible conditions to thrive in the future," said Vasco Cordeiro.
After receiving in audience, the Board of the National Union of Civil Aviation Personnel (SNPVAC), the President of the Government stressed that he conveyed this commitment during the meeting held in Ponta Delgada.
"This requires monitoring, step by step, the way how air companies, particularly SATA Internacional, will perform in the future. However, there is no preconceived idea regarding the future of SATA other than help it following its path," assured Vasco Cordeiro.
In respect to SATA's Strategic Development Plan for the period 2015-2020, Vasco Cordeiro added that it is about to be concluded. The document is being prepared by a working led by the Administration Board of Grupo SATA.
"The Government of the Azores expects that this work will be completed in order to move forward to a detailed analysis of the document and make the necessary decisions," said the President of the Government.
