Government joins forces with Azorean families to ensure adequate housing, says Vasco Cordeiro
The President of the Government, Vasco Cordeiro, stressed today the union of efforts between the Regional Government and Azorean families that ensures the improvement of housing conditions on all the islands of the region.
"This is one of the measures that embody the so-called cohesion between our islands. With the means the Government has at its disposal, we join our efforts to the effort of families in order to carry out the improvement of housing conditions," said Vasco Cordeiro at the beginning of the statutory visit to Graciosa Island.
The President of the Government spoke at the session for the allocation of support to the recovery of degraded housing on Graciosa, which involved an investment of nearly 115,000 thousand Euros. At the occasion, two cooperation agreements for the recovery of housing were signed with the Village Councils of Luz and São Mateus.
In his speech, Vasco Cordeiro stressed that Local Authorities are "key partners" in the implementation of this housing policy, which the Government intends to pursue in the future.
"The Government of the Azores is satisfied when, through this action, we can join the Government's effort to efforts of families and, from this perspective, provide adequate housing conditions," Vasco Cordeiro said, noting that in the case of Graciosa, the Government has already invested over 700 thousand Euros in this area.
According to the President of the Government, the allocation of support to the recovery of degraded housing on several islands also promotes solidarity among all Azoreans.
"The support allocated by the Government of the Azores is only possible because the Azoreans, from Santa Maria to Corvo, have contributed to the resources the Government is able to provide," said Vasco Cordeiro.
