Government of the Azores considers redevelopment of Albergaria Cruzeiro in Angra do Heroísmo as Project of Regional Interest
The Government of the Azores recognised as Project of Regional Interest (PIR) the investment in the redevelopment of the old Albergaria Cruzeiro into a four-star theme hotel located in the historical centre of Angra do Heroísmo, a World Heritage Site classified by UNESCO.
Promoted by the company Cabral & Rosa, Lda., the project represents an investment of around 4.2 million Euros and will create over a dozen new permanent direct jobs.
This project involves the expansion of that old hotel unit, which was closed, thus enhancing the building heritage and the island's accommodation offer.
In this regard, it falls within the development priorities defined in the regional strategic guideline plans, notably those for the qualification of the Azores destination, wealth generation and job creation.
The process of recognising and monitoring projects of Regional Interest Projects aims to promote and distinguish investment projects that demonstrate a strong impact or a structuring effect in strategic sectors.
