A blood bank will created on the island of Graciosa to ensure “the permanent availability of blood to be used in cases of emergency.”
In order to ensure its creation, the Government of the Azores, which visited this Central Group island this week, has authorised the acquisition of a special refrigerator equipment.
The press release of the meeting of the Council of the Government, presented by the Regional Secretary of the Presidency, also mentions the authorisation of a public procurement to hire another general practitioner for the Graciosa Healthcare Centre.
At the same meeting, the Government has also decided to draft the project to consolidate the area of the Santa Cruz Port that was not subject to interventions and to launch an awareness campaign for the separate collection of waste, developed in partnership with the Santa Cruz da Graciosa Town Hall.
The organisation, in cooperation with the Town Hall and with the business and farmer’s associations, of a campaign to promote the use of the “Biosfera Açores” (Azores Biosphere) brand and the renewal of the refrigerator equipments of the Folga cold storage plant to enhance the development of regional frozen fishing products were other decisions announced by André Bradford on Friday.
