Job creation and wealth generation are strategic investment for the Regional Government, says Vasco Cordeiro
The President of the Government stated the investments carried out in the Region are part of the strategic goal towards the creation of conditions so that the Azores may increasingly generate employment and wealth in various areas of the regional economy.
"This has been the major strategic goal of the Azorean Government as well as the major challenge that has mobilised us in the definition, innovation and implementation of measures leading to the creation of jobs and wealth," said Vasco Cordeiro on Flores Island.
The President of the Government spoke at the opening of the improvement works of Fonte do Frade - Caldeira da Lomba rural road in the municipality of Lajes das Flores. This is an investment of about half a million Euros that cover 44 farms spread over an area of 181 hectares.
"What matters in this investment, as in several others, is the purpose of strengthening the competitiveness of farms and of regional agriculture, but, above all, a more strategic goal towards the creation of jobs and wealth in our Region," stressed Vasco Cordeiro on the second day of the Government's statutory visit to Flores.
The President of the Government emphasised the strategic nature of the investments carried out in more traditional areas, such as agriculture and fisheries, as well as in emerging economic sectors, such as tourism. They are intended to strengthen the competitiveness of the regional economy.
