The President of the Government, Vasco Cordeiro, announced to the Legislative Assembly Luís Manuel da Silva Rodrigues as the new Chairman of SATA's Board of Directors, who will be heard, under legal terms, before taking office for these duties
From June 2009 to December 2014, Luís Rodrigues held the positions of Executive Director at Holding TAP and TAP S.A., Chairman of the Board of Directors of TAP Manutenção e Engenharia Brasil and Executive Director of the company SPdH - Serviços Portugueses de Handling, S.A.
As Executive Director of TAP, he led the management of stopovers in more than 90 destinations to which the company flew, having created and implemented a global cost reduction programme for the company. In April 2014, he took up the position of Chief Financial Officer, also leading the areas of Human Resources, Labour Relations, T&I, Purchasing, Legal Affairs, Auditing and Health Services.
As Chairman of the Board of Directors of TAP M&E Brasil, a company with 1,900 employees, among others, he led the company's transformation programme. It went from a highly deficient situation to a company that doubled its turnover in four years and without any contingency.
As Executive Director of SPdH - Serviços Portugueses de Handling, S.A., a company with 2,000 employees and a turnover of 105 million Euros, he conducted the restructuring of this company from a situation of poor service and high losses to a profitable company. He then managed its sale in an international process involving interested parties such as the Government, the Regulation Commission, Employees and Trade Unions and the European Competition Authority.
Besides his experience in commercial aviation, Luís Rodrigues has held senior management and leadership positions in several private companies, such as FISHER, Portugal Telecom, Media Capital Multimédia, TVI and Procter & Gamble.
Luís Rodrigues holds a degree in Economics from the then Faculty of Economics of the University of Lisbon, now designated as Nova SBE, and has attended various complementary training programmes, namely an MBA from Nova SBE, the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School (USA), and the Air Transport Seminar from the School of Engineering of Cranfield University (United Kingdom).
Recently, since April 2015, he has held the position of Chief Executive Officer Nova School of Business and Economics Executive Education in Lisbon and professor of Strategy, Corporate Governance and Applied Leadership at the same institution. He is also Associate Professor in the Master's programme in Business Strategy and Practice.
