The President of the Government visited today the redevelopment works of Poças Port on Flores Island. This is one of the example of the ongoing investments in regional port infrastructures amounting to 30 million Euros.
With a budget of 8.4 million Euros, "this is an example of the investments that are being carried out in regional port infrastructures," Vasco Cordeiro said, adding that there are "works in progress amounting to 30 million Euros."
Speaking at the beginning of the statutory visit to the island of Flores, the President of the Government added that significant investments are underway in the ports of Ponta Delgada and Velas (São Jorge Island).
In addition, there is an ongoing public tender for the repair of the breakwater in Madalena Port on Pico Island, Vasco Cordeiro said, adding that the Government is preparing a series of procedures to launch another public work for other port works.
This is the case of reprofilling and resurfacing works that are being carried out in Horta Port, Ponta Delgada Port and Pipas Port (Terceira Island), announced the President of the Government.
According to him, the work that is taking place in Poças Port will improve the operating and safety conditions in the maritime transport of passengers between the islands of Flores and Corvo.
This work began in 2016 and aims to ensure the protection of the coastline in that area as well as to reinforce the sheltering conditions for vessels within the basin.
