Pico milk producers were "key players" in the recovery process of LactoPico, says Vasco Cordeiro
The President of the Government said today that Pico milk producers are the "key players" in the recovery process of LactoPico, which received more 500 thousand litres of milk in the first four months of this year over than in the same period of 2014.
"Firstly, producers have overcome the very difficult phase" with which this industry struggled recently, Vasco Cordeiro said, recalling that, since the beginning of his term, the Government has always supported and followed this process on a permanent basis.
After visiting the plant in the context of the statutory visit, the President of the Government also recognised the efforts of the Boards of LactoPico and Lactaçores. They were also a key part in the recovery process, which allowed the dairy industry of Pico to experience, once again, "renewed confidence to face the future."
"During this process, the Government was always on the side LactoPico and producers and this is what we continue to do today," Vasco Cordeiro said, assuring the Government's availability to support the process to render the plant more competitive and increase its production capacity, through the specific Community framework for Agriculture.
In addition to the increase of milk delivered to the plant, producers are being paid on a regular basis and the debts owed to them have already been settled by the plant.
